The Community Strategic Action Plan (CSAP) was published in 2006 by a group of residents of Saltash and the surrounding area of South East Cornwall operating under the auspices of the Market and Coastal Town Initiative. It sets out briefly our vision for how the town and surrounding villages – the Saltash Gateway area – might develop over the next 20 years.
Unlike many 'development plans' produced by commercial developers or by the Planning Authorities, our Community Plan takes at its starting point the question: what do we, the people living here, actually want? If we want to make Saltash a better place to live, work, shop, study, raise families or grow old in, how do we achieve that?
Our conclusions were the result of two years worth of research, consultation, discussion and debate, that have involved hundreds of residents of all ages, from all over the Gateway Area. We have tried to include this diversity of views in the Plan. We have tried to think big, and to be creative in our thinking.
We hope that you will take the time to read the Saltash Gateway Community Action Plan, and to consider the ideas in it.
Since the plan was published in 2006 we have been working on a range of practical projects that will help meet its aims and objectives, however there is more work to be done.
If you, like us, want to get actively involved in making some of these ideas happen, we hope you will consider joining us as we continue with the delivery of the plan through the Saltash Gateway Community Interest Company.
Saltash Gateway CIC is an open and democratic organisation, owned and managed by the community, that will begin to make these changes happen. Membership is free, and we encourage anyone over the age of 18 who lives, works or studies in the Saltash Gateway area to join. You can apply to join the CIC as a member by completing the form online from the Join us link in the menu on the left..
The plan and apendicies are published as a set of PDF files. You can find an index here with links to the individual files, or look in the document library under CSAP 2006.

Welcome to Saltash Gateway CIC Saltash Community Interest Company is a not for profit organisation that exists for the benefit of the community. Its remit is to promote and carry forward the economic and community regeneration of Saltash and its surrounding “gateway” area, which is defined by the PL12 postcode
The CIC was set up in 2006 originally to carry forward the work of the Saltash Gateway Market and Costal Town Initiative. The Saltash Gateway Community Strategic Action Plan is our guiding document and since 2007 we have been working with our partners to drive forward, and in some cases deliver, a wide range of projects that meet the aims of the plan.. |
|
Projects such as the Saltash Card demonstrate how we can attract outside funding to the area and deliver a practical idea to benefit both residents and traders alike. Other projects involve more behind the scenes work such as public consultations, researching the potential for new schemes of work, brokering contacts and initiating partnerships. Most recently we have been actively supporting the work relating to the town centre regeneration, researching the potential for a community transport scheme and developing links with local health and social care services in order to put forward the views of local people. The CIC works closely with Saltash Town Council and Cornwall Council. Our aim is to initiate, support and where appropriate deliver projects that meet the long-term vision of making the Saltash Gateway area an even better place to live, work and visit.
If you would like to be involved, or to comment on our work, please do not hesitate to contact us.
